Plant Hire Explained

Frequently Asked Questions

From our family to yours — here’s everything you need to know before hiring.

1. Do I need a special licence or insurance to hire a dumper?

No special licence is needed — if you’re over 18 and comfortable handling machinery, you’re good to go!

2. What ID do I need to provide when booking?

We ask all customers to upload two simple things:

  • A photo ID (like a driving licence or passport)
  • A proof of address (like a utility bill or bank statement)

This helps us keep everything secure — and knowing who we’re dealing with means we don’t need to take big deposits.

3. How long is a hire period? Can I book just for a day?

Yes! We offer 1-day, weekend, and weekly hires — no problem at all.

Even if you only need it for a morning, a full day rate will apply, but we always do our best to make sure you get maximum value for your time and money.

4. Do you deliver? Or can I collect the machine myself?

We deliver all our machines directly to your site — that way, everything arrives safe, clean, and ready to go.

We don’t currently offer customer collection, but our delivery rates are fair and we charge just £50 for drop-off and pick-up. A higher charge may apply to remote locations.

5. Will it come with fuel?

Yes — your machine will arrive with a full tank of diesel. You don’t need to top it up or return it full — the fuel you use is part of the hire.

6. What happens if the equipment breaks down?

Things rarely go wrong — but if they do, give us a call straight away.

We’ll either guide you through it over the phone or send someone out to help. We’re a small team, and we take pride in looking after our customers properly.

7. Is it difficult to operate?

Not at all! All of our equipment is really user-friendly, and we’ll walk you through the controls when we deliver.

If it’s your first time, just let us know — we’re happy to spend a few extra minutes showing you the ropes.

8. How do I know which digger or dumper I need?

If you’re unsure, just give us a ring or send us a message.

We’ll ask a few questions about your job and recommend the right machine — whether it’s narrow access, hilly ground, or you just need something that’s easy to tip.

9. Do you take a deposit? Are there any hidden charges?

We don’t take a deposit, and there are no hidden extras.

We’ll always be upfront about costs — including delivery, or any repair fees if something gets damaged. Just treat the machine like your own and you’ll be fine.

10. Can I get a machine last minute? What about an operator?

We often have same-day or next-day availability — especially if you’re local.

If you need an operator, let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to help.
